Use the dental chart
Record one finding or treatment
- Open the correct patient → Teeth.
- Choose permanent, primary or mixed teeth. Check the view against the actual examination.
- Select the tooth and surfaces needed for this action.
- Choose Today's treatment, Diagnosis, or Previous treatment. Add the relevant details and an optional note.
- Review the highlighted target, save, and wait for confirmation.
Select the clinical target, choose the kind of entry, review it, then save and read it back. Selection alone is not a saved treatment.

Dates, symbols and history explain the chart. Color alone is not a diagnosis or a severity score. Open the color guide or touch a key item for its explanation. The drawing is schematic, not a radiograph or an exact picture of the patient's anatomy.
Add and arrange your choices
- In Today's treatment, Diagnosis, or Previous treatment, choose Add option. Enter Name; the icon, abbreviation and color are optional under Icon, abbreviation and color.
- The default availability is Only me in this clinic. An authorized user can choose Shared with this clinic when creating it. Save, then select the option and review the clinical target as usual.
- Open Customize and order. Choose List to arrange when offered, drag the choices or use Move up / Move down, then Save order. Restore default order resets that list. Ordering is personal to your account in this clinic, including the available procedure and restoration sublists.
Using Edit or Hide option affects future choices; saved entries keep the name, icon, abbreviation and color recorded with them. Reordering changes presentation, not tooth numbers or clinical meaning. A custom icon does not perform a clinical action or set a price: review the work and its pricing separately. Use General diagnosis — no tooth required for an observation without a tooth target. Creating or editing options needs a server connection.
Save clearly, including when moving quickly
The compact tooth view keeps the save controls near the target. A disabled Save explains what is still needed, such as a surface, root, or completed note. The three entry modes retain separate drafts: changing to Diagnosis does not leave a filling selected in that mode.
Ctrl/Command + S saves the current complete entry, including while typing its note. Ctrl/Command + Z inside a text field keeps normal text undo. Outside a text field, it uses Undo last step when available. Undo changes to this tooth and Undo session changes offer wider reviewed scopes for your own entries; see corrections. Redo appears only for the eligible single entry just undone; it creates a new documented action and does not delete history. It does not redo a whole group.
The personal Save a complete entry when moving to another tooth choice is on by default on this browser profile. It saves an edited, valid entry for the original tooth before processing the next queued entry. Selecting a tool alone, an unfinished placeholder, or an invalid target never triggers that save. Switching modes, opening another patient, or closing the browser is not a general auto-save guarantee. Keep a temporary unfinished draft open or save it explicitly using the protected draft action where offered.
An incomplete note stays editable. A lost response is not permission to enter the same work again: use its retry and check history.
Record an earlier treatment without inventing a date
Under Previous treatment, open the custom earlier-treatment form when the standard choices do not describe it. Give it a readable name and optional description, choose the information source, and describe the date if known. An unknown date stays unknown; the date of documenting it is a separate fact. This form does not need a current visit and does not create a current fee.
Read extraction marks
EX? indicates an extraction finding or proposal; EX✓ indicates a recorded extraction. They can describe different events and do not prove a duplicate database record. Teeth and wider care
The initial dentition view follows the recorded age. With an unknown birth date, a provisional permanent chart is available. Change the view when needed; historical records are not renumbered.
Use Select several teeth for a reviewed group. Independent treatment creates separate entries per tooth; a connected bridge, appliance or shared session keeps its reviewed scope. One appliance/session does not automatically charge once per selected tooth.
Bridges, implants and whole-jaw procedures
- A bridge identifies supports and replacement sites. Review each role; use the wider procedure form for cantilevers or implant-supported work.
- Implant placement needs a missing site; restoration needs a documented implant.
- Orthodontics distinguishes teeth to move from anchors; implants cannot be selected for movement.
- A complete denture needs a reviewed edentulous jaw. Resolve contradictory saved teeth or implants first.
- Select a jaw, group or mouth scope for applicable cleaning or examination. Check the actual included teeth.
- Special dentition cases records retained primary, absent, ectopic or extra teeth. An extra tooth is an annotation, not a replacement or a made-up tooth number.
What should happen after saving?
The saved entry appears in its tooth or scope history. For root treatment, the canal count is optional and must come from your examination; the drawing does not determine it. Described “other” findings/procedures need their explanation.
With a prepared device copy, pending server confirmation is different from confirmed care. Do not repeat a confirmed entry when another part of a multi-tooth save is uncertain. Finish the visit before preparing its visit-linked invoice.
If saving or history fails, retain the draft and use the offered retry. Clinical undo can leave an issued invoice needing financial review; follow Review invoice when offered. True clinical dependencies or changed records can still stop an action. See corrections, active treatment and device work.
Keep prescriptions separate
In the patient record, start a prescription with Medication name; other medication fields are optional. Open Additional details for dose, route, frequency, duration and other fields when needed. Save as medication template saves reusable medication details with personal or permitted clinic availability; it excludes patient details and internal notes. Selecting a template copies its details for review, and editing a prescription does not change the template. Review the prescription before issuing or printing; this is separate from recording treatment in a visit. Real prescription writes need a server connection.
